Cartridge World Encourages Consumers to Buy Non-OEM Supplies

Following BBC Watchdog’s recent exposure of OEM’s overly high cartridge prices, Cartridge World launched a promotional campaign across the UK to advise consumers to lower their printing costs from 30% to 50% by switching to non-OEM ink cartridges.

Cartridge World is encouraging consumers to participate in its battle against the unreasonable cost of OEM ink cartridges. Until May 16, consumers can swap their empty OEM cartridges for a refilled Cartridge World product at 50% off the retail price.

John Richardson, Chairman of Cartridge World, commented, “We are delighted about the study of Watchdog, as we do think that the cost of OEM printer ink cartridges has become unreasonable. The program is helpful in letting consumers know that there are cheaper and viable non-OEM cartridges as well. Many people think they have to use OEM cartridges to ensure the printer works properly and safely. However, it is not true and we can offer a solution. In addition, refilling and recycling empty cartridges will bring benefits to the environment.”

On May 1, Watchdog researched the extremely high cost of ink and the significant reduction in ink levels in OEMs’ cartridges. It denounced the reduction in page yield as well as the failure of OEMs to notify consumers of the reduced ink volume on cartridge packaging. Cartridge World’s campaign also mentioned this fact noting that it forces consumers to spend more for ink jet printing ink.
