Canon Files Against Kostland

Canon Inc. filed a complaint in the California Central District Court on December 28, 2017 against California-based Kostland Inc., for infringing its patents.

Canon is suing over its patent (U.S. Patent No. 9,581,958 B2), titled “Process Cartridge and Image Forming Apparatus,” which was granted in February 2017. Canon claims toner cartridges—for use in certain HP color laser beam printers, including HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn, HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553n, HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553x etc—sold by Kostland “infringe the ’958 patent include those bearing the designations AC-HF360AK, AC-HF361AC, AC-HF362AY, and AC-HF363AM.”
