Brother Printer Excels in 3Q Report
Brother has reported its third-quarter revenue, ended December 31, 2012, showing strong momentum in the printing business.
For the quarter, Brother posted a net sales of $1.4 billion, which is 5.1% increase compared with the same time in 2011. However, the company has also reported net loss of $27.8 million, while it is making ¥5.6 billion income a year ago.
Brother mainly blames the loss to income tax increase and unfavorable currency rate.
Unlike HP, Canon and other OEMs, Brother’s printing business remains strong under the bleak economic environment. Its printing and solution business reports an 8.7% increase in net sales to $1.0 billion. Sales of communications and printing products also grew 9% to $899.7 million. The total operating income though, dropped 11.2% to $38.6 million.
According to its performance through the three quarters, Brother has lowered its outlook for the whole fiscal year.
