American Ink Jet Acquired by IIMAK

International Imaging Materials, Inc. (IIMAK), a manufacturer of printing, imaging and marking consumable products, headquartered in Amherst, New York, has announced the acquisition of American Ink Jet Corporation (AIJ), effective June 1, 2015. AIJ is located in Billerica, Massachusetts.

All formulas, brands, manufacturing assets and processes from AIJ to produce and distribute inkjet inks used for wide-format & desktop printers will be transferred to IIMAK. But the new owner will keep the American Ink Jet brand name. Michael Andreottola, former AIJ President and CEO, has joined IIMAK and will focus on new product development.

Headquartered in New York, IIMAK is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of thermal transfer ribbons, and has diversified into the broader consumable imaging supplies market offering inkjet inks, direct thermal films and other related products. As per IIMAK, this move positions them for continued growth in inkjet markets.

Andreottola explained his reason for joining IIMAK, “American Ink Jet Corporation’s decision to join forces with IIMAK was done so with our customers in mind. IIMAK has a wide range of resources to explore innovations in wide format inks and accelerate development of new products to deliver high value to meet market needs.”

Scott Surma, IIMAK Vice President of New Business Development, said, “Specialty graphics and imaging technologies fit nicely with our core competencies in production and distribution. We will maintain the highest level of product quality and consistency, and invest in wide format inks to meet the demanding requirements of graphic applications.”
