UK Government Awards £900 Million to Printing Suppliers

The UK government has approved a new four-year framework agreement worth up to £900 million for printers, photocopiers, multifunctional devices, and related services, according to The Register.

The framework, organized by the Crown Commercial Service (CCS), provides public sector organizations — including schools, hospitals, councils, police forces, and central government departments — with access to discounted rates based on projected purchasing volumes.

According to the published contract award notice, the agreement covers a wide range of offerings, including multifunctional print devices, managed print services, technical resources, digital workflow solutions, cloud services to support digital transition, and consultancy in print management.

The framework is divided into five lots:

• Lot 1: Canon will supply multifunctional print devices and print management software via a dedicated supplier-hosted website, with a potential value of £180 million.
• Lot 2: Valued at up to £350 million, this lot includes new and remanufactured digital equipment, software, and cloud services.
• Lot 3: Focused on digitization of business processes, this lot is valued at approximately £150 million.
• Lot 4: Worth up to £200 million, this lot provides hardware, accessories, and operational services to support the Government Property Agency’s GovPrint service.
• Lot 5: Dedicated to print consultancy services, valued at up to £20 million.

Other supplies awarded contracts include Konica Minolta Business Solutions, Kyocera Document Solutions, HP Inc, Ricoh, Xerox etc.

This new agreement replaces a previous framework launched in January 2021, which also had a potential value of £900 million over four years and is scheduled to end in September 2025.

In addition to this framework, government organizations may also purchase devices through the separate Technology Products & Associated Services 2 agreement, which covers a wider range of hardware and is valued at up to £12 billion.
