Zhono’s Guide to Identify Region of Origin for Toshiba Printers

Background

While Toshiba printers are renowned for their quality and performance, identifying the region of origin for used monochrome and color printers and ordering the correct compatible chips can be a challenge.

In this guide, Zhono’s engineers will walk you through the simple steps to easily identify your Toshiba monochrome or color printer’s region of origin.

For Monochrome Printers:

Check the region via the [0, 8] service mode.

Step 1: With the printer powered off, press and hold the number keys [0] and [8] simultaneously, then turn on the power.
Step 2: After entering the main interface, input the code [9060] to check the printer region.
Step 3: If the printer screen displays [M-SRRM: 4(CND)], the “CND” indicates the China region version.

For Color Printers:

Check the region of origin via the [FS-08] service mode.

Step 1: While the machine is powered on, navigate to the home screen and select 「User Functions」. On the new page, press and hold the 「User Functions」 button at the top until the 「Authentication」 screen appears. Enter the password 「#1048#」 and tap 「OK」.
Step 2: On the 「Service Mode」 interface, select 「08 Settings Mode」 and click 「Next」.
Step 3: On the following screen, select 「Classic」, enter the number 「9060」, and press 「Start」.
Step 4: If the machine displays “LGC-SRRM: 6(CND)”,  the “CND” indicates the China region version.

Region of Origin Code Reference

Note: Region of origin codes are based on historical data; please confirm the actual information on the device.

  • MJD: Europe
  • NAD: United States
  • JPD: Japan
  • AUD: Asia-Pacific version
  • CND: China
  • TWD: Taiwan region
  • ASD: Middle East
  • ARD: North America

Normally, the above method should allow you to identify the correct region of the machine. However, due to the complexity of the second-hand market, accurate regions of origin often cannot be verified for many used machines.

If a customer uses a chip intended for a different region, the machine may display a [Replace Toner Cartridge] message even with a new toner cartridge installed. This occurs due to regional incompatibility, not due to a defective chip.

Zhono has developed universal toner chips for Toshiba T-FC415/210/200/505, T-2323/2309/2802, and T-6518/5508 models to prevent compatibility issues in second-hand machines. These chips have passed rigorous testing in European and American markets, proving their reliability and consistent performance.
