Xerox Assigned Patent for Media Handling Device for a Printer

Xerox, Norwalk, Conn., has been assigned a patent (8,419,144) developed by six co-inventors for a “media handling device for a printer.” The co-inventors are Ruddy Castillo, Briarwood, N.Y., Barry Paul Mandel, Fairport, N.Y., Lloyd A. Williams, Mahopac, N.Y., James L. Giacobbi, Penfield, N.Y., Frank A. Porter, Penfield, N.Y., and Joannes DeJong, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “An inkjet printing system includes a sensor positioned proximate a media transport path in an inkjet printing system, the sensor being configured to detect a media height exceeding a predetermined height with reference to the media transport path, and a controller associated with the inkjet printing system, the controller being configured to modify operation of the inkjet printing system in response to the sensor detecting a media height exceeding the predetermined height.”

The patent application was filed on May 11, 2010 (12/777,777).
