U.S. Parish Holds Event to Collect E-Waste
A Louisiana parish is hosting a Household Waste Day on Saturday 22, April.
Residents of the Iberian Parish of Louisiana U.S.A. can bring their household item such as inkjet cartridges to the local courthouse parking lot for proper disposal.
According to The Daily Iberian, the event was part of the Project Front Yard initiative to help collect specialized waste that otherwise would have cluttered the kitchen drawers, garages and sheds or simply been normally thrown away.
Items being collected include old charging cords, compact discs, latex-based paint, ink and toner cartridges, phones and stereos.
Workers from local companies will assist in processing the special household waste items. Companies signed up for help include Acadiana Diesel for batteries, Colt Inc. for tires and Capital Area Recycling for “e-waste” items like computer parts.
No commercial waste will be accepted. Residents also need to show their IDs in order to dispose of their junk.
The government arranges such events ever year. Stormy weather has forced the event to reschedule from an earlier date.
