U.S. Customs Seize Toner Cartridge Products
The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (U.S. Customs) has informed the USITC three companies tried to import GEO-infringing products into the United States. U.S. Customs has denied entry.
Copies of seizure and forfeiture orders, dated September 16, declare the toner cartridges and components seized by U.S. Customs, violate a General Exclusion Order (GEO) related to the 337-TA-829 investigation. Consequently, the USITC has issued separated orders against the following three companies:
- Clear Imaging Inc., Washington;
- Magna Ink Corporation, California
- Max Scrap Metals Inc., California
Canon U.S.A., Inc., Canon Virginia, Inc. and Canon, Inc. in Tokyo filed a lawsuit on January 23, 2012, claiming 35 companies infringed its two U.S. patent Nos.: 5,903,803 and 6,128,454. USITC instituted this investigation (337-TA-829) on February 29, 2012 and issued a GEO on June 28, 2013.
