SCC Discusses Lawsuits, Technology in Japan

Static Control (SCC) spoke at the seminar held by the Association of Japan Cartridge Remanufacturers (AJCR) in Shimbashi, Tokyo, Japan. Hara Trading Co., Ltd., the sole Japanese distributor for Static Control, also joined the event with more than 40 key decision makers for Japanese remanufacturers.

In the seminar, Juan Carlos Bonell, Vice President of Distributor Market Sales at SCC, addressed OEM lawsuits, such as the recent action from Canon.  Plus, he talked about the issue of HP chip messaging and how SCC addresses that with its chip technology. Regarding the COLORCONTROL Replacement Imaging Systems, Bonell revealed, “Cartridges powered by the COLORCONTROL system allow remanufacturers to offer a premium remanufactured cartridge that can satisfy the most demanding of color customers, those that currently purchase OEM cartridges”.

Jonin Hulings, Technical Support Specialist at SCC, discussed, “recent aftermarket component development strategies in relation to toner and chip, and also introduced the latest in color technologies”.

We also know that one of the best ways to combat the clone industry is through trade organizations such as AJCR. We are proud to be members of this organization,” added Bonell.

Takahisa Emori, Director of the Business Development Department at Hara Trading, said, “This seminar was a good opportunity to educate Japanese remanufacturers about IP issues since in Japan many Canon cartridges are recycled and sold. Chip patent/trademark awareness needs to be more recognized and OEM trademarks should be respected.”
