Samsung Announces EPEAT Ratings for 60 Printers

Earth Day is day to acknowledge improvements in sustainability practices for consumers and businesses alike. Samsung Electronics America Inc. recognized their own achievements today “with more total EPEAT-rated products than any other manufacturer for printers, TVs and hundreds of models in the PC and display categories.”

60 of Samsung’s A3, A4 and MFP print devices were among the products rated on EPEAT. For those wondering, EPEAT is a registry created by a collaboration of people from the business, adovacy, government and academic areas (and initially funded by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) to help companies, governments and consumers compare and purchase greener products.

In 2007, the U.S. government mandated that all federal agencies have 95% of their purchase requirements be EPEAT-rated products. To be added to the EPEAT registry, products must meet a number of environmental performance criteria reflecting several categories of environmental attributes that cover the full lifecycle of electronic products.
