Purdue University Taps Xerox to Strengthen, Expand Print Operations

Purdue University will use Xerox’s Centralized Print Services (CPS) to realize a cost savings of up to 15 percent for printing services and to gain efficiencies in their document production operations.

Xerox will provide technology, software and process reengineering in the University’s four print operations across Indiana – encompassing 60,000 students and more than 10,000 faculty.

Working with Xerox, Purdue will utilize personalization software and highlight color technology to produce more impactful documents; they will also enhance the user experience with web-based ordering.

“We’re in the business of higher education, not printing. That being said, documents are critical to our institution, from course packets and recruitment materials to alumni correspondence,” said Robert Wynkoop, managing director, Office of Executive Vice President for Business Services and Finance, Purdue University. “Partnering with Xerox is the practical way to transform our print function.”

Xerox uses a three-stage approach – assess and optimize; secure and integrate; automate and simplify – to transform document production environments. As a result, Xerox gains a comprehensive understanding of the institution’s business, operational and financial needs.

From there, a customized program is developed and can include on-site print center support, external print procurement, mail/distribution and creative/design services.

“Purdue’s ability to create a print infrastructure that adds value to their institution is a smart, strategic move,” said Mike Feldman, president, Large Enterprise Operations, Xerox. “Centralizing print services is more than just controlling production print – it is a communications strategy that readies organizations to manage digital content and documents in an economical, holistic way.”
