Printer Shipment in China Sees 2.8% Growth

Printer shipment in China for 2014 reached 14.58 million units, up 2.8% compared to 2013. Inkjet segment saw a decline of 3.4% year-on-year (YoY) to 3.14 million units while laser market recorded a 6.7% YoY growth to 8.09 million units.

According to IDC, high capacity inkjet printers registered a continuing growth and accounted for 29.7% market share in China in 2014. It is believed that this segment will continue to grow in the future as more SOHO and SMB purchase these devices which bring lower cost per page. Meanwhile, the devices supporting mobile printing represented 17.4% market share in 2014 in the country, recording a YoY hike of 4.3% and expected continuous increase due to more application of smart mobile devices.

In laser segment, medium and high speed mono equipment as well as color equipment showed strong growth. The mono laser devices at speed of 31ppm or above registered an increase of 17.2%, mainly driven by enterprise purchase. The color products also saw a growth of 12.8%.

Shana Wang, Senior Market Analyst, predicted that the market demand for printers will become stable though the China printer market saw a slight growth in 2014 Also, the demand from SMB will not see significant growth due to economy slump, but the demand from government, finance, hospitals and telecommunication industry will increase.
