MPS Leaders Identified
Four printer OEMs have been identified as leaders when it comes to providing managed print services (MPS)—with Lexmark being mentioned for the fifth year in a row.
The other three leaders are Xerox, HP and Ricoh. Strong performers in MPS also included Canon, Konica Minolta Samsung, Kyocera, Sharp and Toshiba, in that order.
The annual report, conducted by Quocirca, is called The Managed Print Services Landscape. It is an independent vendor analysis of the global enterprise MPS market.
Quocirca quizzed senior IT managers in the UK, France, Germany, and the US, from 200 enterprise companies with 1,000 or more employees, who use a managed print service. Quocirca—a primary research and analysis company specializing in the business impact of information technology—conducted the end-user online survey during May 2016.
Each MPS vendor was also asked to complete a written submission detailing its strategy, capabilities, and customer references to ensure key facts and figures were captured.
Quocirca found the world of MPS is changing. Firstly by changing customer ambitions, and secondly by new priorities and challenges faced by the providers themselves. Quocirca points out in the report that while MPS is delivering on cost-saving expectations, it must play a more important role in helping organisations realise strategic growth plans.
The research firm also noted “the past year has seen significant changes in the print industry with HP, Xerox and Lexmark all undergoing changes in organisation.” But warns the OEMs consumers are looking for a provider that can demonstrate long-term viability and stability.
The report elaborates on Lexmark’s global execution and industry expertise, noting, “A key strength for Lexmark is its global operational capabilities. Its unique single-system infrastructure offers MPS customers visibility and consistency in reporting across their fleet of devices on a country and global basis.” The report went on to say, “Lexmark offers strong expertise in helping customers streamline their business processes. In the wider software space, Lexmark has developed strong integration between its MFP, MPS and software products. It is successfully driving synergies between these businesses.”
Lexmark’s Marty Canning—executive vice president and president of Imaging Solutions and Services—was quick to respond to the Quocirca report. “Lexmark’s leadership comes from connecting print and digital information across industry sectors backed by strong analytics that guide business process improvements,” he said. “Five consecutive years of recognition for our integrated technology portfolio in imaging, software and solutions to help businesses make smart decisions and maximize their technology investment is a source of pride.”
