Laser multifunction printers (MFPs) continued to pose positive year-on-year (YoY) performance with an increase of 2% across EMEA in Q42014, as was revealed by the data published by European IT research company CONTEXT. The company said the growth was mainly due to the 13% increase in Western Europe.

The overall printer hardware unit shipments in the EMEA region saw a decline of 3% YoY, mainly caused by a 1% decline in inkjet MFP shipments.

Driven by negative performance in France and the U.K., printer hardware shipments in decreased by 1% YoY. Shipments in France dropped by 3% while the volume in the U.K. stumbled 9% YoY for Q42014.

Zivile Brazdziunaite, Imaging Market Analyst at CONTEXT, explained, “The Middle East and Africa mirrored overall EMEA performance by recording a decline of 3% year-on-year, driven by the negative Printer Hardware performance of UAE and Turkey. Saudi Arabia and Israel recorded double-digit growth due to increased unit shipments of multifunction devices. ”

Central and Eastern Europe recorded a 9% decline YoY, mainly due to the poor performance in Russia caused by unstable political situations. Czech Republic and Romania registered growth of 5% and 3% in unit shipments, thanks to the pleasing performance of laser MFPs.
