Largest Independent Office Supplies Business Created

An office supplies firm based in the north and Midlands area of England has acquired an independent office equipment distributor in the southwest of England and Wales.

With its acquisition of SET Office Supplies Group (SET), Complete Office Solutions Group has both expanded its national business and became the largest independent office supplies business in Britain.

According to Tonernews, SET was founded in 1976 by George Amos, Neil Griffiths, Mandy Jones and Robert Jones and now has a turnover of over £30 million (US$40.2 million) with more than 250 staff.

Mr. Amos stated, “When I decided to seek a buyer to take the business to the next level, I only wanted to talk to organizations with a similar ethos as our customer focus and quality of service is what sets us apart from our larger competitors. As a successful independent firm in the north of England, Complete Office Solutions Group is a perfect fit in terms of culture and values. I know that the deal will stand both companies in good stead for the future and that our loyal customers will continue to receive the excellent service they have come to expect from SET.”

Acuity Legal, supporter of legal advice on the negotiations, the structure and implementation of the transaction, together with Gambit Corporate Finance, provider of planning, strategic and financial advice to SET’s board and shareholders have also assisted in this acquisition.
