Kyocera Introduces New Inkjet Printhead for Industrial Use

Kyocera has announced the development of a new inkjet printhead designed to handle thicker industrial materials that have been difficult to use with conventional inkjet systems. The company says the technology can eject materials with higher viscosity and produce larger droplets than previous designs.

Inkjet technology is widely used for its ability to apply materials precisely and reduce waste. However, its use in industrial fields such as manufacturing, painting, and 3D printing has been limited because many industrial materials are too thick to be jetted reliably. Kyocera’s new printhead is intended to address this challenge.

According to the company, the printhead contains more than 1,500 nozzles and incorporates new internal mechanisms that improve the force and stability of material ejection. This allows it to handle materials with significantly higher viscosity than earlier inkjet printheads and to deposit larger amounts of material in a single droplet.

The development comes as manufacturers seek production methods that improve efficiency while reducing material loss and environmental impact. Inkjet-based processes are increasingly being explored for applications such as electronic components, semiconductor manufacturing, additive manufacturing, and automotive painting, where precise material placement is important.

Kyocera says the new printhead design also improves stability during operation, which has been a common issue when working with thicker materials. By refining the internal flow paths, the company aims to support more consistent output and broader industrial use.
