Konica Minolta Plans to Set up Plant in India

Japanese OEM Konica Minolta plans to establish its first manufacturing unit in India, says Yuji Nakata (pictured), Managing Director at Konica Minolta India.

Nakata claims India is the firm’s fastest-growing market and the plan echoes Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to Make in India.

Konica Minolta asserts it has held a 51% share in India’s professional production printer market that largely caters to printing wedding albums. Its India revenues stood at about Rs 400 crore (close to $64 million USD) in 2014, up from Rs 100 crore (close to $16 million USD) in 2011.

However, Nakata refused to reveal further details about Konica Minolta’s proposed facility in the country.
