Konica Minolta Establishes Nation-wide Direct Sales Network in India

Konica Minolta Business Solutions India announced it has acquired the production printing business of Monotech Systems, its major digital press distributor in India.

As was revealed, after the acquisition, Konica Minolta India will add 15 more sales offices across India to its current 5 branches. The acquisition will add about 200 of Monotech’s current staff to Konica Minolta, doubling its local staff to 400 employees. With its trained sales and service team of over 400 professionals, Konica Minolta will become the largest team supporting the Indian production printing business.

Yuji Nakata, managing director, Konica Minolta Business Solutions India, says, “After the acquisition, effective from 1 June 2015, we will be even closer to our customers and they can get more value-added work from print consumers – this is one of the main purposes of this acquisition.”

TP Jain, managing director of Monotech Systems, says, “The transfer of the Konica Minolta business will create new synergies for the Konica Minolta business in India and should result in an even better experience for our valued customers and it is a good opportunity for our team members who move to Konica Minolta as a result of this business transfer. Monotech has six business verticals, and of course digital printing is one of the major business verticals in which Konica Minolta has been a flagship product for us. Divesting the Konica Minolta production print business will help Monotech to focus on the other cutting edge global products in our six business verticals and also our own R&D and manufacturing activities in wide format inkjet and our inkjet production press.”

TP Jain explained 60% of Monotech’s annual revenue of Rs. 250 crore comes from Konica Minolta production print products. “While Konica Minolta business has been the key driver of our growth in recent years we plan to soon release our digital inkjet book production press to the market and we would like to scale this up and become a global player,” added TP Jain.

In addition to Monotech Systems, Konica Minolta has three other digital press distributors, HCL Infosystems, KMI Business Technologies and TechNova. After the acquisition, these will remain as before.
