Huge Counterfeit HP Supplies Haul Seized

HP says a batch of counterfeit print cartridges was seized by local authorities in raids carried out in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. The value of the infringing cartridges totaled US$70,000.

According to Computerworld, the investigation was conducted by tracing the sale of security labels on the Internet. Local authorities busted two major distributors and confiscated ink cartridges, toner cartridges, packaging and security labels.

An HP spokesperson stated, “With counterfeit HP print cartridges, customers purchase what they often assume to be a genuine HP product, but they instead receive a cartridge that provides them with an inferior print experience. HP is committed to protect our customers and ensure they receive the right cartridge that prints in high quality when they choose Original HP print cartridges.”
