HP Roseville Relocating 250 Employees to Other Cities

About 250 employees of HP’s Roseville campus are being relocated to other locations, the company said, part of a restructuring of the company’s printing and personal systems divisions.

“As part of HP’s strategy to foster better work environments and closer collaboration for employees, PPS (printing and personal systems) will be relocating certain positions to different, existing HP locations,” said HP spokeswoman Sarah Pompei, based in the company’s Palo Alto headquarters.

Pompei emphasized that the employees are not losing their jobs, but are being asked to join teams in other cities, which she declined to name.

The affected employees also would have the option of applying for other HP jobs at the Roseville campus.

Pompei said the relocations affect fewer than 10 percent of the company’s overall workforce in Roseville. In its most recent annual report, for 2013, HP said its personal systems division, which includes PCs for businesses and consumers, faces an “intensely competitive” market, with rivals such as Apple, Dell and Samsung. The company also been squeezed by the consumer shift away from desktop computers to tablets.
