HP Launches New Mobile-Friendly Printers
HP has announced its latest line of printers for consumers and businesses – and these printers are equipped with mobile printing capabilities.
Today, HP said it was rolling out its newest HP Envy and HP Officejet printers, geared towards both consumers who want to do something crafty with photo printing, or small offices that need to print business-related documents.
One of its new releases is the HP Envy 7640 e-All-in-One, which allows for printing directly from a mobile device running iOS or Android. The printer also comes with some new features, like a dedicated photo tray, a feeder that automatically sends out up to 25 pages, and the capability to print two-sided pages automatically.
Then there’s the HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One, which can print up to 12 pages per minute. Its sibling, the 5660 e-All-in-One can print at a speed of 14 pages per minute, and both printers allow users to print from their smartphones and tablets.
And finally, for small businesses and home offices, HP is also offering the Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One, slated as providing vibrant colour and sharp text, making documents look more professional. Like the other printers announced today, this model also offers users the ability to print from their mobile devices.
HP’s other announcement related to its HP Ink plan, which makes it easier for consumers to get hold of printer cartridges. All of the printers mentioned in today’s announcement are compatible with the program, allowing users to order HP ink replacement cartridges before the ink in their printers runs out. Customers pay a monthly fee depending on the number of pages they print, not on the number of cartridges they use.
Right now, the HP Ink program is only available in the U.S. and the U.K., but HP says it has plans to roll it out to other countries later this year.
