Funai Partners with Kodak for Printer Business

The supplier of consumer electronics Funai Electric Co., Ltd. (Funai) has just entered into a license agreement with Eastman Kodak Company, under which it will undertake supply, delivery, marketing and sales activities, and after sales service of Kodak brand consumer/small office printer products and related consumable supplies worldwide.

Funai stated its purpose for concluding the license agreement is to strengthen its printer business by offering Kodak brand and will seek to increase earnings by acquiring new customers.

Also, the company asserts it plans to manufacture and sell consumer/small office printer products and related consumable supplies under the license agreement beginning in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2016. There will be no impact on business performance in the current fiscal year.
Kodak now focuses on commercial packaging and printing, but it licenses its name out to other manufacturers who market consumer products, such as Funai, according to WXXI News.

On April 1, 2014, Recycling Times reported that Funai purchased Lexmark’s inkjet printer assets for US$100 million. Among the assets are more than 1,500 U.S. and foreign patents, as well as Lexmark’s ink manufacturing operations in the Philippines.
