Fake Cartridges Seized in India
Police, from India’s Central Crime Branch (CCB), raided a store in DJ Halli and arrested the owner, Shabbir Ahmed, recovering 315 counterfeit inkjet printer cartridges worth Rs. 15 lakh ($24,000 USD).
As reported by The Hindu, the police asserted that the owner collected empty cartridges from other stores and establishments, refilled them with ink and repackaged them to look like brand new ones. He sold the cartridges with labels of popular brands.
The police have also booked a case of cheating under the Copyright Act against Mr. Ahmed and are investigating further.
