Counterfeit Cartridges Seized in Malaysia

The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry’s Selangor branch in Malaysia cracked down on a company that buys and re-sells counterfeit printer cartridges. Enforcement Chief Othman Nawang reported that an enforcement team raided three premises, including a factory, a shop, and a house in Section U5.

As reported, 3,252 fake branded cartridges of HP, Brother, Samsung, and Canon, a compressor machine and cartridge machine cleaner were all seized during the raid. The value of all the seizures totaled RM 500,000 (US$155,900.00).

Othman Nawang also revealed that two local workers in their 20s were detained at the factory, adding that the suspects allegedly bought the cartridges for between RM5 (US$1.56 ) and RM12 (US$3.74) per unit and re-sold them for between RM50 (US$15.59) and RM180 (US$56.12) each.
