China Allows Visitors to Stay Longer — Transit Visa-free Entry Upon Arrival
International travelers wanting to attend the RemaxWorld Expo in October have been given good news.
China has optimized its visa-free transit policy, extending the permitted length of stay for foreign travellers from 54 countries to 240 hours. That is 10 days.
Visitors can use 10 full days to attend the event (October 16-18, Zhuhai), then visit factories and still have enough time to explore local culture, connect with business partners, and make the most of your trip.
What is a transit visa?
Travellers should note that one condition of obtaining a “transit visa” upon arrival in China is that they must be transiting to a third country or region. In simple terms, visiting China is not your final destination—you’re just passing through on your way to another country. If you meet these requirements, you can leave the airport and explore the city for up to 240 hours without needing a visa.
It should be noted that a visitor arriving in Hong Kong or Guangzhou from their home city, for example, cannot return to their home city straight afterwards. They need to travel to a third destination first. This could be the nearby region of Macau or another country like Japan, the Philippines or Thailand.
Unlike Tourist (L) or Business (M) Visas, which require advance application and approval, this transit visa-free policy allows eligible visitors to enter China without applying ahead of time. It’s fast, convenient, and perfect for short business or sightseeing stays.
This transit-free policy applies to visitors from 54 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Germany.
In addition, more countries can now enjoy 30-day visa-free stay! Starting June 1, 2025, travelers holding ordinary passports from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay can enjoy 30 days of visa-free entry to China—making it easier than ever to attend our expo or explore the country.

Visitors to China now have more options and greater flexibility when planning your trip. Whether you’re flying into major cities like Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou, you can make the most of your 10-day visa-free stay in China.
Important Reminder
Visa policies can change. Before planning their trip, travellers should verify requirements with the nearest Chinese embassy/consulate or the National Immigration Administration (en.nia.gov.cn). The Expo’s organizing team will also provide updated visa bulletins, including any new rules or extensions announced by Chinese authorities.
