Canon Granted Preliminary Injunction

Canon has received a preliminary injunction from Germany’s District Court regarding one of Canon’s patents.

Canon Granted Preliminary Injunction

Canon Inc announced it had been granted a preliminary injunction, including injunctive relief, from the District Court Düsseldorf against New Time Trade GmbH and its managing director.

According to Canon, the preliminary injunction regards the German section of Canon’s European EP 2 087 407 patent in relation to a drum unit and process cartridge.

Canon wrote in a press release, the accusation against New Time Trade GmbH related to “the offer and distribution of a laser toner cartridge comprising a drum unit via amazon.de under the ASIN (=Amazon Standard Identification Number) B00VYPUUZU”.

Canon further wrote the injunction was not final yet; the defendants did have the opportunity to file an objection against the injunction; and, “Canon can enforce the decision after service of the PI on the vendors”.
