Canon Files Patent Law Suit in Russia

Canon has filed a suit before the Moscow City Economic Court to enforce its Russian Federation patent 2467370 covering toner cartridges. The OEM filed this case against X-Com Shop Ltd., a distributing company.

As was revealed, Canon believes the distributor sold patent-infringing cartridges on the Russian market under trademarks “CACTUS” and “G&G”. Canon said it aims to “stop infringement and to collect damages for patent infringement in accordance with Russian law”.

Again, Canon noted it “respects the intellectual property of other companies and individuals and expects others to similarly respect Canon’s intellectual property rights.” Also, the OEM said it “remains committed to pursuing legal enforcement against those who do not respect Canon’s intellectual property.
