APEJ Print Consumables Market Revenue reports Decline
In Q4 2015, ink cartridge revenue in the Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APeJ) market declined 5.1% quarter-on-quarter while the laser toner market posted a 5.3% quarter-on-quarter revenue growth.
According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the decline in ink cartridges shipments also resulted in a drop in the APeJ printer consumable market, which declined 1.3% quarter-on-quarter and 6.5% year-on-year to reach US$ 1.55 billion.
“There have been significant developments in the inkjet market especially in 2H 2015, with major OEM vendors launching inkjet hardcopy peripherals (HCPs) which offer ink-tanks that have extremely high page yield at very low cost of print per page (CPP),” says Jeremy Soo, Market Analyst for IPDS Research at IDC Asia/Pacific.
Third party vendors contributed approximately US$330 million, which is approximately 21% of the total value. The OEM market recorded the biggest drop in revenue, a decline of US$15 million from the previous quarter.
