3D Printing Company in Dispute with Pop Mart Over Labubu IP
A copyright dispute between Chinese 3D printing company Bambu Lab and toy brand Pop Mart has progressed from legal action to a negotiated settlement, drawing attention to intellectual property compliance in user-generated content platforms.

In early March, Pop Mart’s subsidiary filed a lawsuit against Bambu Lab and related companies. The case centers on disputes over copyright ownership and alleged infringement, and was scheduled for a court hearing on April 2.
The dispute is linked to Bambu Lab’s online 3D model-sharing platform, MakerWorld. The platform hosts over one million user-uploaded models and has a large global user base. Prior to the lawsuit, users had uploaded 3D-printable models resembling Pop Mart’s well-known intellectual property, including the character Labubu. These files were available for free download and could be used to produce items closely resembling official products.
By mid-March 2026, the dispute between Bambu Lab and Pop Mart had been resolved through negotiation. According to statements from individuals familiar with the matter and a subsequent official announcement by Bambu Lab, the two parties reached a settlement after discussions.
Bambu Lab confirmed that all content related to the disputed intellectual property had been fully removed from MakerWorld and issued an apology, stating that the issue had caused inconvenience to both Pop Mart and users.
As of the settlement, searches for Labubu-related models on the platform continue to return no results.
Editor’s Remarks:
The case highlights ongoing challenges in regulating intellectual property within rapidly growing digital content ecosystems, particularly platforms built around user-generated 3D-printable models. It also reflects increasing enforcement of copyright protections by intellectual property holders in emerging technology sectors.
