Canon First to Register Imaging Products Under EPEAT 2.0 Criteria

Canon U.S.A. has announced that seven of its printing products have been registered under the EPEAT 2.0 criteria, making Canon the first manufacturer to register imaging equipment products under the updated criteria on the EPEAT Registry.

EPEAT is a leading ecolabel for electronics and technology products. Its criteria are developed through a voluntary consensus process involving a broad and balanced group of stakeholders. The standards address key sustainability issues throughout the electronics life cycle, including materials extraction, manufacturing, reuse and end-of-life management. Areas covered include climate change mitigation, chemicals of concern, sustainable resource use and circularity, as well as responsible supply chains.

According to the Global Electronics Council (GEC), which manages the EPEAT program, EPEAT 2.0 represents a new generation of sustainability standards. The updated criteria place greater emphasis on supply-chain impacts, environmental and social performance, transparency and accountability across the electronics industry.

Canon is also among the manufacturers that registered at least one product under the EPEAT 2.0 criteria and added it to the EPEAT Registry before June 30, 2026. As a result, the company has been recognized as an EPEAT 2.0 Launch Partner.
