Sharp Collaborates with Foxconn in New Business Areas
Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) and Sharp Corporation have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic collaboration framework aimed at developing new business opportunities across several growth sectors.

Under the agreement, the companies plan to combine Foxconn’s technology portfolio, global manufacturing capabilities, supply chain resources and business development platform with Sharp’s brand, market channels and service network. The collaboration is intended to support joint research and development, commercialization and market expansion.
The partnership will focus on areas including AI infrastructure and solutions, energy and ESG-related applications, robotics and smart automation systems, next-generation communications technologies and smart cities.
As an initial step, Foxconn and Sharp will examine the establishment of a joint research and development platform. The companies said they plan to leverage Foxconn’s strategic growth technologies, including AI, energy, robotics, electric vehicles and next-generation communications, to conduct joint research, proof-of-concept projects and market deployment.
The two companies also plan to explore the creation of a business development platform to support commercialization. By combining Foxconn’s manufacturing capabilities, supply chain and global partner network with Sharp’s brand recognition and market presence, they aim to expand into new business areas in Japan and other international markets.
One of the first areas under consideration is AI infrastructure. Following Sharp’s previously announced entry into the AI server market, the companies will evaluate the deployment of AI server-related products and solutions under the Sharp brand, supported by services ranging from implementation and product supply to operation and maintenance.
In announcing the agreement, executives from both companies said the collaboration is expected to combine their respective strengths to create synergies, support the development of new businesses in growth sectors such as AI, energy and robotics, and enhance competitiveness through joint research, development and global supply chain capabilities.
