Toshiba Introduces Cloud-Based Printer Registration Technology
Toshiba America Business Solutions has launched its Encompass Tag & Assessment Generator™ (eTAG™), the industry’s first and only mobile, QR-enabled, self-service printer registration solution.

The patented technology streamlines the traditionally labor-intensive process of tagging and registering printers. eTAG intelligently catalogs each device’s make, model, and location within an organization’s print fleet while enabling remote supply and service requests via QR code. The platform also provides a consolidated, real-time overview of an organization’s printer environment accessible from mobile devices.
Simplified Self-Service Support
With eTAG, asset tag labels are delivered directly to printers, eliminating the need for costly and time-consuming onsite visits. Each label includes a QR code with simple enrollment instructions, allowing staff to register devices independently. The same QR code enables users to order supplies or request service as needed.
Real-Time Fleet Management
eTAG enhances operational efficiency by providing up-to-the-minute supply and service status updates. This centralized visibility enables IT teams to monitor, track, and manage their print fleets in real time while ensuring maintenance is completed promptly.
“With more than 100 printers across our locations, the logistics to identify each one would have been daunting for our IT department,” says ERIK’S Bike Board & Ski Vice President Digital & Information Technology Graeme Bloor.
“Instead, we leveraged Toshiba’s eTAG solution to identify each printer remotely. Toshiba’s solution provides simple instructions for our store staff to tag 100 percent of our printers quickly and efficiently. Beyond finding value in the accuracy of the process, the work, time, and cost savings are far greater than we expected. I would highly recommend Toshiba’s eTAG for any organization!”
