World Expo Stuns Global Print Consumables Industry

All previous records were broken as millions of dollars of business was done in just 3 days at the global hub of the imaging consumables industry.

RemaxAsia Expo in Zhuhai, China attracted 453 exhibitors and 13,563 visitors from 85 countries. All were stunned by the enormity, the grandeur, the huge business opportunities and the new efficiencies offered at the brand new, down-town International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Run jointly by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhuhai (CCPIT Zhuhai) and Recycling Times Media (RT Media), RemaxAsia focused again on the global print consumables industry—worth US$80 billion. RemaxAsia Expo was run side by side with iPrint (commercial printing) and iPrint 3D expos from October 16-18.

Keeping An Eye on Patent Issues

A powerful industry summit, held the day before RemaxAsia Expo, pulled together 212 OEMs, remanufacturers, legal experts, market analysts and industry giants to bridge connections, voice hesitations, and find solutions.

New York patent attorney, Martin B. Pavane, (Cozen O’Connor) warned the ongoing Canon “dongle-gear” case in the US against many cartridge remanufacturers, could hurt the industry permanently. Chinese patent attorney Helen Duan, predicted that with one or two new lawsuits breaking every month in Europe, the industry can expect more patent lawsuits in the future.

Expo Highlights

Aftermarket exhibitors also introduced new 3D printing products. At the launch of the ColiDo Duo 1.0 printer, Arnald Ho, Chairman of Print-Rite, said 3D had become an extension to his business. “We see market opportunity in 3D printing which will become very popular in next 5-10 years. There are no popular consumer brands at the moment, so it’s the right time to launch our 3D branded products and services.”

Efficiency and flexibility are the two strengths differentiating the fast-growing digital printing industry from the traditional offset printing industry. Danny Chow, project manager of the iPrint Expo, expressed excitedly:” Although digital printing has not became a mainstream, it is definitely the future in the printing industry.”

A newly patented “Dynamic Pressure Replenishment” continuous ink supply system (CISS) was also on display. Guohua Zhou, General Manager of Fuzhou New Generation Technology said, “We are very confident for the future of our CISS system and used this show to introduce these products to the international market.”

During a special ‘passing on the torch’ ceremony, RT Media’s Managing Director Tony Lee promised to continue the 25 year legacy—to honor those who make substantial industry contributions—established by the former US based Recharger Magazine, acquired by RT Media earlier this year. Twelve awardees, selected by a panel from Europe, Asia and the USA, were honored this year during the RT Media Global Industry Award Ceremony.

Emily G. Diaz de Cozar, General Manager of BioPlanet, travelled to China from Spain. “You can’t imagine how hesitant I was before I made the decision to visit RemaxAsia Expo for the first time. I feel lucky. After seeing the great number of exhibitors, I will definitely visit RemaxAsia Expo next year.”

Tony Lee said, “Lots of exhibitors told me the increase in international visitors was very evident. We have been congratulated and applauded over and over again. What’s more, they are backing our new series of RT Imaging Summits and Expos in Europe and Las Vegas in 2015 which will continue to consolidate our global brand.”
