Trainee Returns as CEO

A former trainee has returned to his first overseas job but this time as the company’s new President and CEO at Canon Hong Kong.

According to TonerNews, Mr. Shunichi Morinaga (Pictured) has been appointed to the top job at Canon Hong Kong Company Limited (CHK) with immediate effect.

With a rich knowledge of imaging products gained from a lifelong career at Canon, Morinaga will spearhead the company’s overall operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia.

“Hong Kong is a unique market. It’s one of the trendsetters in the region with a constantly changing market scene, and I am excited to take this new challenge and work with the team of imaging professional at CHK. Through introducing our innovative products and services that always delight our customers, we will continue to strengthen Canon’s leading position in the imaging market. The Canon Group will undergo a grand strategic transformation in the coming years, and it is essential for us to be prepared and embrace the challenge of new growth,” Morinaga shared.

Morinaga started his career at Canon right after his graduation from Gakushuin University in Tokyo in 1984. The next year, he was relocated to CHK as an overseas trainee. Since then, he has developed his expertise on promoting Canon’s consumer imaging products and grew extensive experience worldwide by working at Canon offices in Canada, Europe and China. His previous leadership roles include: Director of Canon Europa N.V., Senior Director of Image Communication Products Group of Canon (China) Company Limited, and Vice President of Canon China.
