As introduced, the new Brother inks are from the Inobella™ ink series, so the black ink is made of pigment whilst CMY are dye based inks. The Brother LC223 (LC203), LC225 (LC205), LC227 (LC207) and LC229 (LC209) series are single tank inkjet cartridges without an integrated print head. Each cartridge is equipped with a chip for ink level monitoring and identification towards the printer. Without this chip, a cartridge would not be recognized by the printer, meaning that remanufacturers either need to replace or reset the chips during the product remanufacturing progress. The company further noted the necessary chip re-setter is already available to buy as stock.
