MFPs Continue to Grow in Western Europe

According to European market research company Context, unit sales of printer hardware increased 3% year-on-year (YOY) in the third quarter of 2014 in Western European distribution, mainly driven by the growth of MFPs.

Laser MFPs and inkjet MFPs posted 9% and 7% YOY hike in the quarter, respectively. In terms of laser segment, the color laser MFPs were up 15% and mono MFPs up 3% YOY.

As to OEMs, Brother and Lexmark registered 28% and 24% YOY growth in unit sales of laser segment, respectively. Canon, Kyocera and Ricoh witnessed negative overall performance, due to weak sales of laser single function printers, but their sales of laser MFPs marked up 20%, 51% and 32%, respectively.

Most countries in the region saw positive rise, with exception of France and some Nordic countries. More details are shown as below:
