Lessons Learned from Canon Dongle Gear Crisis

Canon and Epson Move to EcoTank Ink Printer TechnologiesA New York based patent attorney, in the midst of the Canon “dongle gear” lawsuits, says the US$16 billion global aftermarket industry can learn from the crisis that threatens to cripple them.

Martin Pavane (pictured), Vice Chair of the Intellectual Property Group at Cozen O’Connor New York, continues to work on the Canon case, representing various cartridge remanufacturing companies.

His exclusive appearance in Zhuhai, China will draw strong media and business attention. He will tell over 200 aftermarket leaders coming from 42 countries there are many lessons to be learned from the Canon suit.

Tickets to hear Pavane started selling fast when news broke this week about his appearance at the RT Imaging Summit at the Holiday Inn Zhuhai on Wednesday October 15.

Firstly Pavane will brief industry leaders on the facts and procedures being taken on the Canon cases. “I am also going to provide the steps that should be taken to avoid US litigation in the future,” Pavane told RT Media, the organisers of the RT Imaging Summit. “And should US litigation continue in the future, I will reveal steps that can be taken to maximize the chances of successfully defending such.”

The full day RT Imaging Summit precedes the three day RemaxAsia Expo, the largest aftermarket imaging event in the world, which moves to the brand new International Exhibition Centre in downtown Zhuhai, October 16-18.  The more than 420 exhibits will cover 30,000 sqm—larger than 5 football fields placed side by side.
