HP 3D Printers to Target Business Market

HP has eyes on driving the next industrial revolution with its new 3D printers.

As revealed by Cathie Lesjak, Chief Financial Officer for HP, the OEM’s first 3D printers will ship later this year. They are based on multi-jet technology, which mixes conventional 3D printing technology with new techniques and materials. Claimed to support advanced inks and materials, the HP 3D printer will also use design rules and precision production methods applied to integrated circuit manufacturing.

Lesjak said, “We’re really not terribly interested in consumer 3D, we’re interested in commercial.”

HP’s 3D printing technology is based on the company’s PageWide commercial printing technology which uses special inks for faster document printing. With this technology, businesses will be able to make parts with a single 3D printer.
