Future Graphics Claims Its New Gear Design Not Restrained by GEO

In a message on July 10, Future Graphics (FG) advised customers that its patent pending True Hex™ gear design is not subject to the restraints imposed by the International Trade Commission’s (ITC’s) general exclusion order (GEO) on Canon gear coupling patents. FG explained that its True Hex gear design is not twisted and it was not accused of infringement in the action of the ITC.

FG said the company is confident of the quality and performance of their proprietary True Hex gear coupling and is pleased to offer this solution to their customers. Also, FG’s OPC drums, with the True Hex gear coupling attached, is available for many HP monochrome and color printer models.

On June 28, the ITC issued a GEO prohibiting the unlicensed importation into the United States of certain HP and Canon toner cartridges and components which infringe Canon’s twisted drum gear coupling patents. (Read more)
