Disgusting Remans?

The main reason why most consumers prefer brand new products is they believe remanufactured products are dirty or disgusting.

Researchers at the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University say there are huge opportunities for businesses wanting to increase sustainability.

But most industries only enjoy about 10 percent of the consumer market.

Remanufactured printer cartridges enjoy up to 30% in some countries.

The soon to be published report is called Remanufactured Products in Closed Loop Supply Chains for Consumer Goods

The report reveals consumers do know remanufactured products have been disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled after worn or defective parts have been replaced.

Consumers also know remanufactured cartridges have been used by someone else before, making them less attractive, dirty or disgusting.

The report also suggest many consumers, even those who are green minded, do not know about the potential environmentally friendly attributes of remanufactured products.
