Canon USA Appoints New President

Canon U.S.A. recently appoints Isao “Sammy” Kobayashi as its new President and CEO, effective January 1, 2024. Kobayashi succeeds Kazuto “Kevin” Ogawa, who has completed five years of service and will be returning to Japan.

Kobayashi was formerly the President and CEO of Canon Canada for the past year. His career in Canon began in 1990 in the photocopier sales division until 2005, when he was promoted to assistant manager in the inkjet printer group.

Over the past three years, Kobayashi has been actively involved in the supervision of imaging products. In 2020, he rose to the position of Vice President of the Imaging Technologies & Communications Group. The following year, he took on the role of Vice President and General Manager of the Hybrid-workplace Solutions Group (HSG), which was established to address demands for multiple workplaces due to the pandemic.

In 2022, Kobayashi was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager. He was also appointed as the Executive Officer of Canon Inc., a title he still retains to today. “I fondly remember my time at Canon U.S.A. and look forward to returning and starting this new career chapter.” Kobayashi commented on his return to Canon U.S.A.

In his address, Kobayashi expressed gratitude for his new role and acknowledged Ogawa’s previous contributions to Canon U.S.A. during a period of uncertainty. He is committed to continuing the effort from all parties involved in the advancement of the company.
