Canon Announces Industry’s First HarmonyOS-Compatible Printers

Canon (China) has announced that 31 of its printer models have officially passed the HarmonyOS NEXT certification, making Canon one of the first printer manufacturers to achieve this milestone. This recognition marks a significant step in Canon’s long-standing partnership with Huawei and highlights their shared commitment to building a secure, intelligent, and efficient native HarmonyOS ecosystem.

Canon and Huawei began their strategic collaboration in 2018. The newly awarded certification is not only a key result of years of close cooperation but also a milestone in the joint effort to align Canon’s printing solutions with China’s mainstream domestic operating systems.

Since signing mutual agreements, the two companies have worked closely to ensure full compatibility between Canon printers and HarmonyOS. Technical teams conducted extensive on-site testing, covering driver app installation and removal, connectivity stability across USB, Wi-Fi, and LAN, print parameter accuracy, and long-duration operation simulations.

Following rigorous testing, 31 Canon printer models successfully received HarmonyOS NEXT certification. These models feature screen-assisted network setup and can connect seamlessly with Huawei HarmonyOS-based PCs. The certified devices are designed to meet the complex demands of industries such as finance, healthcare, education, and manufacturing, offering a secure, intelligent, and efficient printing experience.

Canon’s achievement not only underscores its technological capabilities but also demonstrates its strong commitment to localization and compatibility with China’s domestic tech ecosystem. As one of the first brands to obtain this certification, Canon sets an example for global companies collaborating with local partners to advance domestic alternatives.

Looking ahead, Canon and Huawei plan to deepen their cooperation by expanding HarmonyOS support across a wider range of Canon products—including smartphones, tablets, and PCs—aiming to build an integrated cross-platform smart office environment. Canon will also continue investing in local R&D and strengthening partnerships with domestic brands to explore new innovations and contribute to the ongoing development of China’s smart and open digital ecosystem.
