35% Cut on Import Tariff in Argentina
Laptops and computer prices are expected to fall as result of a 35% reduction of tariff, says the Argentina Production Ministry.
According to www.buenosairesherald.com, the Argentina government has formalized the slashing of import taxes on information technology parts and finished products effective from April 1St. The policy is to cut prices on goods that is essential to boosting the prospects of small and medium-sized businesses. Meanwhile, it helps the government to minimize any concerns about job losses in the IT domestic sector.
The measure is said to affect 72 product types, including laptops, desktop PCs and all-in-ones as well as complementary items such as printers or components such as servers or LED parts.
It is reported that cellphones and consumers who buy their products abroad are not covered by the measure.
