Third Company’s Products Seized for GEO Violation
According to orders dated October 6, the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (Customs), the California-based Easy Group attempted to import GEO-infringing inkjet ink cartridges into the United States. Customs informed the International Trade Commission (USITC) of the seizure.
After reviewing documents submitted by Customs, the USITC ruled any inkjet ink cartridges imported by Easy Group, with print heads and components that infringe the GEO involved in the 337-TA-723 investigation, will be seized and forfeited.
On September 6, RT Media reported the USITC also issued seizure and forfeiture orders against two other companies, Ninestar Technology Co. Ltd. and Billiontree Technology USA Inc. respectively, for violation of the 337-TA-723 GEO.
Back on May 25, 2010, HP filed a complaint alleging the importation into the U.S., the sale for importation, and the sale within the U.S. of certain inkjet ink cartridges with print heads and components had violated its U.S. patent Nos. 6,234,598; 6,309,053; 6,398,347; 6,481,817; 6,402,279; and 6,412,917. USITC determined to institute 337 investigations on June 25, 2010. The investigation was completed with a GEO being put in place on October 24, 2011.
