Apex First to Market Chip Surprise Solution for HP

Following nine months of research and development and a gruelling pace of testing, Apex Microelectronics (Apex) claims it is the first microchip company to deliver an aftermarket solution for the recent range HP laser printers.

The China-based Apex, part of the large Ninestar group of companies, says its first-to-market chips have a proven, consistent performance and are easy to install in remanufactured cartridges.

The chips, which have required a huge investment in time and resources are for use in cartridges for HP’s entry-level monochrome laser printer 136w series and colour Laser 179fnw series. HP launched these printers in May 2019 at the 2019 HP Innovative Commercial Printer Summer New Product Launch Conference. Apart from printing, scanning and copying, “the easy mobile printing function allows customers to work anytime, anywhere.”

A spokesperson from Apex said, “Replacement chips for use in HP W1105A and W2060A series cartridges are now available.”

“Further,” the spokesperson said, “these cartridge chips have been developed using Apex’s own patented technologies and respectfully do not infringe the patents of the OEM. The OEMs know this to be true.”

Apex has also expanded its replacement chip range for use in a wider range of cartridges suitable for HP, Xerox and Samsung devices (see the full list of products below).
