HP Launches DesignJet Z6 & Z9 Large-Format Printers
HP has introduced the new HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9⁺ PostScript Printer Series Plus Edition at the FESPA Global Print Expo, expanding its large-format printing portfolio for professional graphics and technical applications.
The new printers are built on a platform with more than 40,000 units installed globally and combine features from the previous HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9 models. According to the company, the systems are designed for applications such as professional photography, retail graphics, posters, and technical printing.
Daniel Martinez, senior vice president and division president of Large Format Printing at HP, said the new series was developed to help print businesses improve productivity, broaden application capabilities, and maintain output quality while managing operational efficiency.
The printers incorporate HP Pixel Control technology and HP Vivid Photo Inks, which the company says deliver sharp detail, smooth colour gradients, and resistance to water and fading. HP also stated that its dual-drop technology enables high-quality image production without the need for light inks.
The HP DesignJet Z9⁺ Plus Edition is targeted at colour-sensitive applications, including professional photography and premium graphics production. It includes an embedded spectrophotometer for colour calibration and offers an optional HP Gloss Enhancer intended to improve gloss consistency.
HP said new productivity print modes can increase output speeds by up to 90%. Additional features include dual-roll support, automatic roll switching, and an integrated vertical trimmer aimed at reducing manual handling and post-processing requirements. The printers also support integration with the HP Click App and Driver software and include HP Wolf Pro Security features.
The HP DesignJet Z6 and Z9⁺ PostScript Printer Series Plus Edition is scheduled to become generally available on 22 June 2026.
Alongside the printer launch, HP announced new capabilities for HP PrintOS Production Hub. These include an Order Approval feature, an Orders API designed for integration with CRM, ERP, MIS, and accounting platforms, and an AI Upscale Image function intended to improve low-resolution files during production preparation.
At the event, the company also highlighted the HP Latex FS70 W printer, originally introduced in October 2025. Newlab, identified as an early customer in the EMEA region, has installed the device to support demand for premium print applications.
Giuliano Goffi, owner of Newlab, said the printer had delivered productivity improvements and expanded creative opportunities through its white ink capabilities.
